Current Student at SMU. Student-athlete since Primary 3 and has experienced both good and bad tutors. Friendly and easy going guy when chatting, but extremely focused when it comes to work. How I'd teach my peers would be more of a friend-friend teaching style where I include fun ways to remember formulas or concepts, just to lighten the mood. I also give simplistic examples of complex questions for reinforcement of concepts that I've taught my friends and to be honest, I was never a fan of memorizing concepts because I feel, even during my time in school, questions are getting less and less straightforward. This would demand that students read and understand what the question is asking for and what concept must be applied. My tutoring experience, despite being limited, I would say is quite vast, given that my current peers are undergraduates and that we have extremely different learning curves and abilities as well as egos. I have friends who learn faster but are more careless, those who are slow learners but extremely precise with their work and those who think they know it all but actually don't. Being an average student at best and juggling school work and CCAs, I understand what students are going through so I can surely relate to what their feeling. Furthermore, as much as we hate to accept it, sometimes students require more attention outside the classroom and it is nothing to be ashamed about. Thus, should a student be under my care, my contact number will always be available and they can ask me anything that their schoolwork requires. I'll then collate these questions and bring them for the lesson to reinforce what has been conveyed to the student. Lastly, I do acknowledge my results weren't the best as I admit I did not cherish my opportunities at that period well enough. However, after growing up quite a fair bit, I'm definitely willing to go above and beyond what a normal tutor would do to ensure the best advice and guidance can be given to the student.
