Another way to see this is that the x and y characteristics will remain the same, but the constant will be changed.

5x + 7y = 46

For our parallel line,

5x + 7y = c

Sub x = 2 and y = -5,

5 (2) + 7 (-5) = c
c = -25

So our line is 5x + 7y = -25.

can i just leave the answer as y=-5/7x - 25/7 ? or is it not simplified

You can leave your answer in that form. But generally I multiply by the denominator to get rid of all fractions.
