Another way to see this is that the x and y characteristics will remain the same, but the constant will be changed.
5x + 7y = 46
For our parallel line,
5x + 7y = c
Sub x = 2 and y = -5,
5 (2) + 7 (-5) = c
c = -25
So our line is 5x + 7y = -25.

can i just leave the answer as y=-5/7x - 25/7 ? or is it not simplified
You can leave your answer in that form. But generally I multiply by the denominator to get rid of all fractions.
