O Level students only learn powers -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 and 3.
They do not learn power -3, so for part a, n = -1 is more appropriate.

Anyway you will need to explain the term "asymptote" to the student, as the vast majority of E Maths students do not learn the term "asymptote".
