Are you sure that 91 is wrong?
The question mentioned that he bought more calculators with ¾ of his remaining money, which equals ¾ of ¾ of his total money at first.
¾ x ¾ = 9/16 , so in your last equation you should be finding 9/16 x instead of ¾ x
