So originally there are 3 units (total) of fruits. 2 of these units is equivalent to 8 units (represent all apples).
Hence you can see that the original 2 units can actually be cut into 8 units.. by simply x4.
Hence 3 original units can be cut into a total of 12 units.
And hence the subsequent steps to find the number of green apples
