Using concept of fractions, find out what's the remainder of fruits:
1-2/7-1/2=3/14

Since qn stated that 7/12 of the remainder are pears:
7/12 × 3/14 = 1/8

Therefore, 1/8 = 35 pears.
The total number of fruits would be 35 × 8 = 280.

Hope this helps!(:
