1 - 2/7 - 1/2 = 3/14
7/12 × 3/14 = 1/8 (pears)

Make all the denominators the same.
Pears ---> 1/8 = 7/56
Apples ---> 2/7 = 16/56
Oranges ---> 1/2 = 28/56

7units = 35
1unit = 35÷7 = 5
56units = 5×56 = 280

Using concept of fractions, find out what's the remainder of fruits:
1-2/7-1/2=3/14

Since qn stated that 7/12 of the remainder are pears:
7/12 × 3/14 = 1/8

Therefore, 1/8 = 35 pears.
The total number of fruits would be 35 × 8 = 280.

Hope this helps!(:
