Actually this is much easier to understand.

Regarding your log, I've tried but it only makes the question more complicated given the fact that lg (a+b) cannot be separated and that your a and b variables have power on them.

Can I check if this question needs to be solved by lg?

Yes it need to be solved using log. Umm when do i use substitution method?
