How is the plate connected to the postive end of the power supply postively charged and likewise for the other plate (which is negatively charged)?

I understand how everything else works. But dont get how the plate connected to the positive end becomes positively charged..

Hmmm take it as when u are supplied with a lot of +ve charge it’ll be repelled and hence to the plate where it has the least repulsion force as compared to the power source where’s there’s MUCH MORE +ve charge supplied
