hello! the fifth electron that you see belongs to the other carbon (Z) that is bonded to your current carbon! Recall that each element donates 1 electron each to form a single bond! so although there appears to be 2 crosses belonging to one Z, only one electron among the 2 actually belongs to the Z, which is why your teacher said there is 4 electrons on Z!
