Yes there is error. No matter how i do, there is negative. It shows carnations are more than roses instead of the one stated in the questions.

Yes, the student made a careless mistake in line 5 and 6 of his/her original working. The student went to find the total number of carnations/roses the florist had, instead of the number of carnations/roses the florist sold. (take note that the florist did not sell all her roses and carnations).
I've written the corrected solutions, and learning points below. I hope this helps :)

So there is no error in the qn?
The roses should be more than carnation right? But the answer shows that the opposite.
So total of roses is 560 and carnation is 700? But roses is 140 more than carnation. Sorry..need to convince my girl..
Oh wait I’m so sorry I read the question wrongly also!!
Question has an error. It should be “140 LESS roses than carnations”

I’m sorry for the confusion...I made a careless mistake also and read the question wrongly.
Roses has 4 units, carnations has 5 units. It is thus impossible for roses to be MORE than carnations, should be “less than”. Your daughter is right.

The attached picture of the working will only be correct if the question is:
“There are 140 more carnations than roses”.
“There are 140 more carnations than roses”.
Thanks much for your clarification!!
