Hi Tutors, can anyone assist with this question? I need some explanation so as to explain the steps to my child. Appreciate all the help.
total = 6u + 46
3u + 30 = 3/5 (6u + 46)
15u + 150 = 18u + 138
1u = 12/3 = 4
(a)
fraction = 14/(24+46) = 1/5
(b)
total = 24+46 = 70

So the difference between the presents Lily and Jean wrapped is 3/5 - 2/5 = 1/5
B) since they both wrapped the same amount on day 1, so the only difference is on day 2. Lily wrapped 30 while Jean wrapped 16. The difference is (30 - 16 = 14).
So this difference of 14 is the 1/5 mentioned in part A.
Hence the total gifts they wrapped = 14 x 5 = 70.
