does methanol not play a part in part ii?
Methanol will prefer to stay as CH3OH due to its stability, hence the low Ka value. A very small amount of methanol dissociates in solution. Very insignificant amount. On the other hand, the Ka value of carbonic acid is 9 orders of magnitude greater than methanol. Hence, it will predominate over any weak acid.
