y is a function of x, so we must also treat 'y' as a chain.

Differentiating with respect to x,

x3 --> 3x2
x4 --> 4x3
x5 --> 5x4 and so on
y3 --> 3y2 times dy/dx
y4 --> 4y3 times dy/dx
y5 --> 5y4 times dy/dx

where 'y' is the chain and using chain rule, we have to add a 'd/dx (y) at the back which is simply dy/dx as I have put above.
