The answer cannot be 6. The LCM of 6 and 6 is 6!
24 = 2x2x2x3
Since 24 is a multiple of n, n MUST contain at the very least, the other 2 factors ie 2x2 since 6 = 2x3.

The answer cannot be 4 becos lcm of 4 and 6 is 12.
The answer is 8 ie 2x2x2.
The LCM of 8 n 6 is 24.
Note that n cannot be 12 ie 2x2x3 becos the lcm of 6 and 12 is 12.

The answer is 8. The LCM of 6 and 8 is 24. The number 24 must contain all the factors of 6 and 8 (note that common factors of 6 and 8 are to be included only once).
Eg. 6 = 2x3
8= 2x2x2
Therefore, LCM = 2x2x2x3 = 24
