Your working is correct. But you have copied the question wrongly. The denominator is h-4 but you have done the sum with h+4. So, if u replace your last step with h-4:
-10=5(h-4)
-10=5h-20
5h=-10+20
5h=10
h=2

You are correct actually, just copied question wrongly :)

1. when you move the -17h to the -12h, the -17h will change sign and become positive. Same thing for the +58.

Pls let me know if you can't see/don't understand

i’m confused whr did the 48 come from? i thought u were supposed shift the -12 to the -17 side first? why did u take 12(h+4) ?

(Sorry. My comment got deleted earlier)

So in this case -12 can be written as -12/1. I choose to take (h-4) as the LCM for the 2 fractions, and then I multiply -12 by (h-4) = -12h + 48. The -12 have to apply to H and -4.

Also, the -17h and the +68 comes from multiply k= -17 to kh - 4k. Same thing with the -17 x -4 giving you positive 68. I apologise if it's a bit unclear or confusing.

My method is the sec 2 method involving addition of algebraic fractions.

Also when you move your -12 over to your -17, your -12 need to change sign because you are moving it over a equal sign. So it becomes -17 + 12 = -5, then -5 = 10/(h-4). Try to put your whole numbers on one side of the equation (left or right) and your algebra things on the other side.
