"Experienced tutor who can help you level up from Cs and Ds to straight As!"
Summary
Have you ever wondered why you hired Mathematics tutors with master qualifications and spent substantial amounts on tuition in the past, but did not get the results you were looking for? This is because quality tuition is not just about the tutor being qualified and good at the subject taught. Quality tuition is about the teacher being able to coach pupils in the subject matter and the skills to conquer stressful exam pressure to score well!
Look no more!
I integrate time-tested, Cambridge-backed (NIE equivalent) teaching pedagogies into my teaching. These include the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach, the constructivist approach to learning and Skemp’s theory which gears my students towards in-depth conceptual understanding over superficial procedural knowledge.
‘Trained teachers know that children and teens are unique and have different strengths and weaknesses.’ It is thus important that educators adapt their teaching methods and strategies to help learners achieve real learning! My teaching is learner-centric! That is, I tailor my lessons to each student’s learning style and pace to bring out the potential best in each student!
As I guided my ex-students who have since graduated from their ‘O’ levels or PSLE exam with straight As or at the very least a B, they felt more confident in tackling abstract Mathematics as I am reliable as a tutor and a friend. (Before my ex-students had tuition with me, they found themselves to be struggling with even passing their tests and exams!)
To teach word problems or proving questions that often students stumped, I coach my students using question analysis and heuristics. I am well-equipped in imparting the heuristics needed to tackle complex problem sums, to my students. The effective mastery of heuristics enables students to dissect daunting problems into simpler sub-problems which they can solve with confidence.
Lastly, I provide and ensure ample variety in my tutorial materials to empower students with maximum exposure. This enhances exam success and improves my students ability in tackling a variety of mathematical problems.
My personality is that I am a non-smoker and dresses professionally, in respect for clients. Also, I believe in being dedicated in whatever I do and will go the extra mile (extend tuition hours by another 10-15 minutes for free) to make sure my student fully understands the concepts taught at the end of every lesson. I plan ahead so that the child does his or her assignments before my lesson. Tuition time is maximized for teaching and guiding pupils in overcoming misconceptions instead of students doing questions!
Additionally, I provide after-session support in your child’s schoolwork should he or she be really facing difficulties (though, I do expect that your child makes the effort to try first.). I am very open to parents’ feedback to help me further improve upon my teaching and relations with students. I teach because of passion and to groom the next generation, so my charges are very reasonable! (Parents and students who have been with me for at least a year appreciated my efforts and even bought gifts to express their gratitude on Teachers’ Day!)
I believe that chemistry between both student and teacher is a must for student-teacher to yield the optimal result improvement. Hence, I am open to trial session as well to see if we share some chemistry!
