The question is slightly ambiguous in what it is trying to explain, but these are two possible solutions based on whether you take it that
1) Only the new friends send the email to 5 of their friend
OR
2) Every email recipient sends to another 5 friends at each stage
(1) is more likely as a scenario since it's established that each person send to 5 and only 5 other friends, but (2) is more relevant to the E-math syllabus
