In my opinion, some students may choose the option D. It may seem appealing at first, however reasoning must be done. At point 1, velocity should be 0. At point 2, parachutist should be accelerating due to the earth's gravitational field. At point 3, velocity should reduced as parachutist opens parachute and later on move downwards at constant velocity. When the parachutist touches down, it follows by an impact and eventually come to a stop.
