how $5.60 become 4u and $2.80 is 1 u

Hi Angela.
When you simplify 2.80 and 5.60 the ratio will become 1:2.
Since both cases Elijah spends all her money, you make her ratio the same by multiplying by 2 to get rid of a Elijah. Hence Rachel on the 1st case will be 4u + 39.20, 2nd case will be 1u+ 140.
Therefore 4u+39.20=1u+140, when you bring the units to one side it becomes 4u-1u=140-39.20.. hope you I understand now
