Okay. Let’s first describe what diffusion is. To put simply, it’s the movement of a substance from a high to Low concentration gradient.
5% sugar is more concentrated than 1% sugar. So, the sugar flows from 5% to 1% sugar solution by diffusion.
In the second image, the opposite applies, since in the cell, the concentration of sugar is higher than the outside.
In the last image, both concentrations of sugar are the same, inside and outside of the cell. Thus, there was no net movement of sugar molecules.
