Why is it 20 out 2 times 3?
Because the container is only 2/3 full. The height ‘h’ in my question represents the height of water, not the whole container. The height of water is 20cm however, question is asking the height of the whole container.
2/3 filled —> 20cm
3/3 filled —> 20/2 x 3 = 30cm
Another approach is:
1/3 filled —> 10cm
3/3 filled —> 10cm x 3 = 30cm
2/3 filled —> 20cm
3/3 filled —> 20/2 x 3 = 30cm
Another approach is:
1/3 filled —> 10cm
3/3 filled —> 10cm x 3 = 30cm
