If you subtract 23 by 17 it means 23-17=6 and 6 is the SHADED area. And FYI I have my worksheet AND my teacher marked mine correct.
Person, you might have to check again with your teacher. In my opinion, Zhiyee’s illustrations quite clearly show that 6u represent 2 shaded parts and the answer is 3:23.
the important phrase here is ‘before overlapping’. 6u would be the shaded area if 23u was just the area of the figure which it is not.
Person the correct answer is 3:23 but I didn’t show my corrections!
