a) The coconut has a waterproof outer surface. It has a fibrous husk with air pockets, allowing it to float. Hence it is able to be dispersed by water.

b) Dispersal reduces competition between coconut offspring for sunlight, water, nutrients and space, increasing chances of survival

c) Water dispersal allows coconut to be dispersed over larger area than splitting of rubber, reducing chances of competition and increasing chances of survival.
