Good evening Tarah! In this final calculus chapter of kinematics (I believe proofs in plane geometry is your final topic), we must understand the different terminologies used.
It's the same terminologies that we use in physics, but the kinematics in physics at your level only deal with linear motion in one dimension, whereas the kinematics here deal with non-linear motion in one dimension as well.
