Hmm I don’t think u can. Unless u trail and error but its gonna take a Long time. This is simultaneous equation. U can look it up to find out more
No, algebra is not needed.
This should be very familiar to P6 students. It is called the excess-shortage problem.
Giving 2 sweets per friend results in having 20 sweets left.
Now ,if you want each friend to have 5 sweets in total, you've got to give each friend 3 more sweets.
But your 20 sweets left is not enough to do that. You need 1 more sweet.
So total you need 20 + 1 = 21 sweets to give to these friends.
Since each friend gets 3 more sweets,
21 ÷ 3 = 7
There are 7 friends.
Now ,if you want each friend to have 5 sweets in total, you've got to give each friend 3 more sweets.
