You have 2 models, S and D for each girls. Shaded is for remaining money, while unshaded boxes are spent money.
S has 1 shaded and 3 unshaded boxes, while D has 3 shaded and 1 unshaded box. If you subtract D from S (S-D) or $305-$235, it is the same as 1 shaded and 3 unshaded box minus 3 shaded and 1 unshaded box.
This means that $70 is equal to 2 unshaded boxes minus 2 shaded boxes. $35 is then equal to 1 unshaded - 1 shaded box.
If you add $35 to S, this adds the difference of shaded and unshaded into the 1 shaded box for S. This means that $305+$35=$340, which is also 4 undshaded boxes. Since Siti spent 3 shaded boxes, multiply $340 with 3/4 to get the amount of money Siti spent
