urm hi . your branching confusing for me .. i mean I know how to do branching . but is confunsing

No worries, feel free to ask. The question says 1/6 of the total went to the wife. That means 2/3 in that last branch represents 1/6 of the total. Normally, a student would divide by 2 but 1 unit divided by 2 is 0.5u, which isn’t ‘nice’. That’s why I changed it to 2/12 of the total instead.

Then, work all the way back to get 5/12 T which means that $4900 represents 7/12 T since the total should be 12/12 T.
