It is noteworthy to know that the phrase always goes “when a graph of VERTICAL is plotted against HORIZONTAL...”, so here our “x” is in fact our vertical axis!

Bear in mind that it is possible for our vertical to contain ONLY x. Similarly, it is possible for our horizontal to contain ONLY y (although not the case here).
