The fact that p is a prime number means that p must have only factors 1 and p.

Then, -p can either be a product of 1 and -p or -1 and p, where p > 1.

Since the sum of roots of the equation is negative, of course the negative factor must be greater than the positive factor. This is only possible with roots 1 and -p.

Of course, if the sum roots is -28 and one root is 1, then the other root must be -29, where p = 29.

As such, we obtain roots/solutions x = 1 and x = -29.

The equation must have been x2 + 28x - 29 = 0.
