You need to do more revision on the topic of Factors and Multiples in order to improve on your addition and subtraction of fractions. It is not wrong to use 12 x 9 to find the common denominator but the bigger the number, the higher chance of you making careless mistakes. 36 is a much smaller number to work with. Both will still give you the same answer.
