Let y be number of tarts baked on Monday
We need to find out what y is
Since she baked 5 more tarts on Tuesday than on Monday, this means that
Number of tarts baked on Tuesday: y + 5
It was given that she baked a total of 25 tarts on both day.
Algebraically, the total amount of tarts she baked on both days is y + y + 5 = 2y + 5
This means 2y + 5 = 25
Subtracting the 5 from both sides:
2y = 20
To find out what y is, we divide both sides by 2:
Therefore, y= 10
