Varies directly means that when x increases y also increases.
So, we can write the expression as:
y = ax, where a is a constant.
a) solving the expression. When y= 8, x= 5, so plugging in:
8 = a (5)
a = 8/5
So the expression is y = 8/5 (x)
b) when x = 30
y = 8/5 (30)
y = 48
