The idea is to try to express x and y in terms of p and q first, or in this case, log x and log y in terms of p and q.
Thereafter, just substitute back into the given expression.

After rearranging p and q as shown at the top, can see that can easily solve as a pair of simultaneous equation to get log x and log y.

Have left out some of the in-between steps, but they are quite obvious and you should be able to fill them in.
