Given big square = 1764
1 small square =1764÷9
=196
Therefore diameter for small circle √196=14.
a)Radius =14÷2=7cm.
b) Area for 1 small circle = πr²
= 22/7 × 7²
=154
Area for 1 small shaded part in 1 small square = (196-154)÷4
=10.5
Total have 16 small shaded part = 16×10.5=168
Total shaded part for figure= 1 circle + 168
= 154+168
= 322 cm ²
