Sorry for the darker than normal photo, but essentially triangle CEB is half the area of the rectangle and the rest is just some simple ratio manipulation.

Oh basically it is because the 2 sharp edges of the triangle is the length of the rectangle (as shown in the diagram), and the height of the triangle is the width of the rectangle, so the triangle is half the area of the rectangle because of the formula of the area of triangle and area of rectangle.
