24 red beans gave away 2/3

Mean
3u —> 24
1u = 24/3 =8
So 2u=2 x 8=16

We can calculate this way
2/3 x 24 =16

To get the shaded 16 in my model.

But the question say 2/3 gave away. 24 is not the total of red beans.

Yes u are right. That is y two 4u + 4u + 16 is 2/3 for red beans
3u is 1/4 from other beans

If we take away red 24 beans
Left
Red = blue
So made it to 12u since
Red gave away 2/3 = 8/12
to tell 2u, I put 4u+4u
Blue gave away 1/4= 3/12
Common multiple of 3 and 4 = 12
