Just take note that area of UPST is area of trapezium> A trapezium is where you have a square and a triangle. So the parallel sides are UT//SP and the height is perpendicular to the parallel side which is longer in this case ST is perpendicular to SP. Hence the area of trapezium is 1/2 * (Sum of parallel sides=UT + SP) * (Height=ST=4)
