You have to subtract 20.52 again.

You have added 4 quarter circles together. This means that you can counted the unshaded area twice.

So you have to subtract twice the unshaded area, but you only subtracted it once.

The answer should be 72cm².


Alternatively, notice that one shaded quarter circle can be combined with one of the curved shaded area to form a 6x6 square.

You can form a total of two 6x6 squares . Area = (6 x 6) x 2 = 72 cm²

Or you can also cut out the two shaded leaves and fit it into the unshaded area.
This way you form two 6cm x 12cm triangles .


Area = 2 x ½ 6 x 12 = 72 cm²
