For Q9c, if the new distribution has a smaller standard deviation, it means that the data points are more clustered about the mean value. So there are more data values near the centre. This is seen by a sudden spike in the gradient of the graph around the centre, because the frequency suddenly goes up by a lot at that area due to the large number of data points there.
