Angle of depression is simply the angle from the horizontal view of the person/object on top that the person/object takes on. Here, when the angle of depression is 30 degrees, it means that the person on top is simply looking at an angle 30 degrees FROM THE HORIZONTAL, as I have marked out.
Of course, because of alternate angles, the angle inside the triangle which I have marked out is 30 degrees.
The rest is simply determining whether to use sine, cosine or tangent.
