Draw it out so it will be clearer.
Since the greater number is 5 times more than the smaller number we will take it as 5 units and the smaller number as 1 unit.

So the difference between the 2 numbers will be 5units - 1units = 4units

The difference is 2452 which is given in the question hence 4units -> 2452. (Do not use “=“ equal sign as it will be marked wrong)

Hence find 1unit so 1unit -> 2452/4 = 613

By looking at the model, the sum of the 2 numbers is 5units + 1unit = 6units henceyou do not need to find what is the greater number and what is the smaller number and add them together. You can straightaway find 6units which is 613x6=3678.

Therefore he sum of the 2 numbers is 3678.
