The rule is 1kg = 1000g.
For division and multiplication of tens, hundreds, thousands etc, a shortcut to calculate would be moving the decimals places by the number of 0s.
E.g. If you need to divide by 1000, move the decimal place to the left by 3 digits. If you need to multiply by 1000, move the decimal place to the right by 3 digits.
