We need to find a way to eliminate x - 0.5 from the denominator so that we do not have to face a denominator of zero.
This can only be done by eliminating x - 0.5 (or their constant multiples) from both the numerator and denominator. Observe how factorising the numerator allows us to achieve a 2x - 1 in the numerator.
