Efx2 just simply means "square each height separately, then add them all up". This is essentially the same as Ex2 since we treat all the heights to be different from one another (even if the heights are the same, we treat them as all different so the frequency of a particular height is taken to be 1 at all times, so we can simply ignore the frequency).
