This question is not easy at all as it's not your conventional sum of roots/product of roots question!

Ultimately, the trick here is to try to get an equation for p so that you can get values of p. This means that you will need to find a way to eliminate the unknown that you assigned as your roots (in this case alpha). Please study the working and explanation in detail, hope this helps!
