Why need to change the base to base 2 in the left side

I didn't change the base on the left side. The right side change to base 2, so I can remove the log in the end.
You can also do for the right hand side:
log(base4)2 = log(base4)4^(1/2)
= (1/2)log(base4)4 = 1/2

Why does the base have a power?

The base is changed to 2 so that it becomes (log(base2)2) / (log(base2)4) which is 1/2

The numbers after the base is not it's power. They should be just normal numbers.
i.e. log(base4)2 and not log(base4)^2
