Just look at one of the smaller quadrant. You realise the shaded area can be cut into two. You calculate the area of the quadrant and minus the area of the triangle, and you can find half of the shaded area. Times two to the answer will give you one of the shaded parts. So the final answer which is the total area of the shaded parts will be 56. 28 is only one of the shaded area
