sorry i have no idea how to do the second deduction and hence part :( i suspect second deduction uses the first three expressions to solve though, cause you cannot rationalise using the difference in areas alone. that said, the qn is just testing you on different areas (both the shaded rectangles and area under graph) so it is quite repetitve
